„In my working notebook there is one single word: feelings. I was looking for a relationship that has a strong emotional charge and that is not for a single moment governed by reason or external logic. I think I found it in the relationship between mother and daughter, bound to one another by hatred, love, guilty conscience and inscrutable behaviour. Nothing is plain or obvious; they grope for each other, strike each other, tell untruths, tell truths, hope and fall into despair – in short, they behave like human beings. To witness such a stream of movements of soul and body ought to be tempting. Or is it not?“
– Ingmar Bergman (translated from Swedish – Aleksandar Benev)
***
What effect does the feeling of not belonging to the being with whom one identifies and defines oneself in the first stages of life – the mother – have on a person? Does a person who felt abandoned and lonely in childhood grow up, or do they freeze at the moment of the trauma? What does reality become if a person continues to live with the monsters from the corners of the nursery? What follows once we revive the corpses in the wardrobe? Is forgiveness possible?
Upon this whirlwind, now controlled, now unleashing its destructive power, this story of love as a primal human need is built and developed.

„Mother and daughter - what a terrible combination of feelings, of confusion and destructive forces.“
